I just finished speaking on the topic of dad-bods on Huffington Post Live: you can see the short video here.
Dad bods are the response to the male model physique, and there seems to have been a minor movement picked up online in the last couple of weeks with men celebrating their pillowy physiques and eschewing the media-driven, six-pack abs body.
I like the idea of owning your body as it is, but ultimately, emotional and physical health are what’s most important.
I shared the panel with a couple of good guys, Jeremy Howard, a plus-sized male model and Bruce Sturgell, founder of Chubstr.com. Both have embraced their plus-sized physiques and are leading the way for men to be more embracing about the bodies they have.
And, I don’t think our culture would let us get away with a “mom-bod” thing, because this could be considered yet another double standard – something men can embrace, but women can’t.
Really, when it comes down to it, dad bod or not, inner confidence and “owning who you are” are what are going to attract women, and make you a happier person.
